Staff
sickness hits Burnham-On-Sea swimming pool
Burnham-On-Sea's
swimming pool is back to normal service after an outbreak of sickness
among its lifeguards resulted in the facility being partially
closed this week.
Some
swimmers were turned away from the pool in Berrow Road (pictured)
on Tuesday and Wednesday due to a lack of lifeguards.
Sedgemoor
District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com
that the pool's management had encountered "problems"
this week, but said the issues were been resolved.
"Two
lifeguards were ill at the same time, which meant there was no
safety cover for the pool. We've now been able to overcome the
problem by drafting in lifeguards from Bridgwater," she added.
"The
pool is run on tight resourcing levels and our bank of casual
staff is depleted at this time of the year because many students
are not available to come in."
