Colourful
start to Burnham-On-Sea's 2007 Regatta!

Burnham-On-Sea's
nine-day Regatta kicked off on Saturday (July 28th) with a colourful
fancy dress tender race, a Caribbean-themed beach party and a
continental street market.
Fourteen
boats made their way from the town's jetty to the Sailing Club
in the River Brue during the regatta's first event, as shown in
our photo
gallery.
Dressed
in pirate costumes, the participants enjoyed calm weather.
The
event was won by Ken Sowden, with Edward Clist in second and Steve
Frazer in third.
Large
crowds thronged the town's seafront throughout the day to visit
a highly successful Continental Market.
Over
20 stalls sold a wide range of merchandise, from gifts and food
to household items and beer.
This
will be followed in the evening by a 'Caribbean Swashbucklers
Beach Party' and barbecue with live music at the Sailing Club.
