Council considers crackdown on advertising
signs in Burnham-On-Sea
A
crackdown on distracting advertising signs besides roads in the
Burnham-On-Sea area could be on the way, with councillors set
to debate the matter next week.
Scores
of signs have sprung up along roads in Burnham and Highbridge
during recent weeks promoting caravan sales, car boot sales, markets
and tourist attractions across Somerset.
Several
town councillors have expressed concern that the problem is getting
out of hand and are questioning whether tighter regulations can
be introduced.
The
matter is set to be discussed at next Monday's meeting of Burnham
and Highbridge town council.
Clerk
Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: "It is an
issue that councillors are very conscious of."
"It
clearly needs to be looked at and will be on the agenda at next
week's council meeting."
