Top Burnham-On-Sea police officer moves to Taunton role

One of Burnham-On-Sea’s most senior police officers, Roger Tolley, has been promoted and is taking up a new role based at Taunton Police Station.

Inspector Tolley, pictured, has beeen appointed Sector Inspector for Taunton and will be responsible for 27 beats in that area.

He lives in Burnham-On-Sea and has been in the Avon and Somerset Constabulary for 27 years, starting as a PC in Bristol and more recently working in Bridgwater and Burnham.

A spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the search for a replacement in Burnham had already begun and an announcement would be made regarding his successor during the coming weeks.

Roger said he is looking forward to the challenge of taking over the Taunton sector.

He said: “I will be focussing my attention on maintaining a high quality of service to the members of the public. I am passionate about improving the quality of life of everybody who lives in this sector. I also want to put extra focus on looking after the victims of crime.”

He added: “We achieved great success in tackling crime and providing a really high quality of service last year and I’m looking to enhance the good work which is already being done within the Taunton sector.”

Roger has previously been awarded both the Constabulary’s Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and the Queen’s Police Jubilee Award.
