Sanders GardenWorld taken over by Wyevale
Sanders
GardenWorld, near Burnham-On-Sea, has been taken over by a national
garden centre chain in a multi-million pound deal.
A
spokeswoman for the Brent Knoll garden centre exclusively broke
the news to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday afternoon (August 31st).
The
award-winning garden centre has been sold to Wyevale Garden Centres,
which is owned by a consortium of investors led by Scottish businessman,
Sir Tom Hunter.
Sanders GardenWorld, which celebrated its sixth anniversary in
March, is now to be one of Wyevale's 'garden centres of excellence'.
The original four shareholders, brother and sister Kerry and Michelle
Michael and brothers Chris and Mike Sanders, will no longer be
involved.
The management team responsible for the day-to-day running of
Sanders GardenWorld including Managing Director, Peter Burks remains
unchanged. They will continue to manage and front the site.
Peter explained: "This is a good move for Sanders GardenWorld
as it will mean we can enhance both our visual appearance and
retail offering, which will benefit our customers tremendously.
I am very pleased with the outcome.
"We
also have the opportunity to become a flagship store for the Wyevale
family both regionally and nationally. I would like to assure
all of our customers that it's 'business as usual'. Visitors will
still be greeted by the same familiar faces both in the garden
centre and the restaurant, and I'd be delighted to answer any
queries anyone has about the new ownership of the site."
