Six
Burnham-On-Sea churchgoers baptised in sea ceremony

Six members of a Burnham-On-Sea church waded into the sea near
the town's jetty on Sunday morning (September 30th) to be baptised
in a special ceremony.
Several
Burnham Community Church members get baptised each year, but they
usually choose a local swimming pool for the traditional full-immersion
ceremony.
This
year, however, six decided that the sea next to Burnham's jetty
would be a good venue where relatives, friends and passers-by
would be able to watch.
It's
the second year that the ceremony has been held in Bridgwater
Bay and it again attracted a crowd of interested onlookers to
the town's jetty.
Deacon
Andy Selby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We wanted the ceremony
to be in a very public place and therefore the sea is ideal. The
water temperature was fairly cold, but it wasn't too bad!"
The
six being baptized on Sunday were Charlotte Wilson, Zena Mansfield,
Dave Bowyer, Leona Barkle, Antony Barkle and Dawn Mellish.
