Date
is set for switch-on of Burnham-On-Sea's new seafront lights

Burnham-On-Sea's
new seafront illuminations are to be officially switched on at
a ceremony during next week's regatta celebrations.
The
new lights have been installed along The Esplanade in time for
the special switch-on, to be held at 9pm on Friday August 3rd.
"The
ceremony will be held on the same evening as the illuminated sail-by
of yachts in Bridgwater Bay, so both the bay and seafront will
be lit up. It should be quite a spectacle," Deputy Mayor
Cllr Neville Jones, who is organising the event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The
switch-on will be held outside the BARB rescue hovercraft station
and will be performed by John Edwards, the former Chairman of
Burnham's Chamber Of Trade.
The
new lighting will then be illuminated every night between 9pm
and midnight throughout the rest of the summer.
A
total of 23 new lights have been sponsored by town businesses,
including Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Further
sponsors are bought sought by the Town Council and for more details
call Town Council Eileen Shaw on 01278 788088.
