Young seal pup washed up on beach near Burnham-On-Sea

A young seal pup found on Berrow beach, near Burnham-On-Sea, is being nursed back to full health by carers at Secret World Wildlife Centre.

The Common Seal pup, pictured here, was weak and dehydrated when he was discovered on Berrow beach last week.

A spokeswoman for Secret World, based near Highbridge, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that he was only the second seal pup they had taken in.

The last one was found in November 2005, again on Berrow beach.

The seal pup has a bad infection in his mouth, so the plan is to treat the youngster until he is strong enough to be transferred to a specialist centre where he can later be released.
