Calm weather helps high Spring tides pass without any incident

-

Calm weather meant this week’s series of very high ‘spring tides’ passed without any problems in Burnham-On-Sea.

Earlier in the week, stormy seas had led Somerset’s coastline to be put on a routine Flood Watch by the Environment Agency, with the advisory extending from Porlock to Avonmouth and including Burnham.

But the calmer conditions later in the week meant the tides – which are some of this year’s highest – passed without any problems.

On Tuesday there was an 11.7 metre high tide at 8pm, followed on Wednesday morning by an 11.9 metre tide at 8.19am, and an 11.6m tide at 8.39pm.
