Burnham-On-Sea
swimming pool shut by water chemical problem

A
water chemical problem at Burnham-On-Sea's 33-year-old swimming
pool forced the facility to close on Tuesday and Wednesday this
week - and it is now expected to open at lunchtime on Thursday
(March 1st).
The
facility was shut on Tuesday morning after a problem with the
automatic water treatment system was found - leading to tne closure
signs going into place.
Pool
bosses worked on the problem during Wednesday and told Burnham-On-Sea.com
that the pool should re-open to the public on Thursday.
Claire
Faun, spokeswoman for Sedgemoor District Council, said: "We
have shut Burnham-On-Sea pool because of problems with the automatic
water treatment system. This means that the chemical balance within
the pool is incorrect and because of stringent safety procedures,
the public are not being allowed to swim."
"The
water treatment system is currently being operated manually. The
chemical balance in the water needs time to equalise and it is
hoped that the pool will be re-opened tomorrow (Thursday, 1st
March)."
Mr
Temple apologised for any inconvenience and advised pool users
to call 01278 785909 before setting out.
Duty
Manager Rob Temple told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Our engineers
are currently working on the problem." He strongly denied
rumours that the problem is linked to any 'animal issues', saying
the problem is "entirely down to a technical problem in our
plant room."
