Two
rushed to hospital after three-car collision in Highbridge
Two
people were rushed to hospital following a three-vehicle collision
on the A38 in Highbridge on Friday evening (June 22nd).
Fire,
police and ambulance crews rushed to the Texaco garage at 6.10pm
after reports that several people were trapped in the wreckage
of their vehicles.
A
fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "One had been released
prior to our arrival and the other was still in the vehicle, not
physically trapped, but with suspected lower back injuries."
"Crews
set to work with paramedics to stabilise the vehicle and carry
out glass managment to create working space within the vehicle."
The
incident was brought under control at 6.47pm when the brigade
extracted one casualty on a spinal board by removing the roof
with hydraulic cutting equipment.
Both
casualties - a man and woman - were taken to hospital by ambulance.
A three vehicle
crash involving one lorry and two cars led to all three lanes
of the M5 southbound being closed on Friday afternoon between
junctions 21 for Weston and 22 for Burnham. No-one was injured.
