Burnham-On-Sea
Tourist Information Centre named best in UK!
Delighted
staff at Burnham-On-Sea's Tourist Information Centre were celebrating
on Tuesday (October 30th) after it was announced that they have
been named the best centre in the UK for customer service.
The
centre, located on Burnham's Esplanade, was named the winner at
the South West Tourism Excellence
Awards in the annual Mystery Shopper Campaign.
 The
centre, which is operated by Sedgemoor District Council, received
the top marks in the country for their customer service handling
when judged on offering advice to the public by telephone, email
and face-to-face.
During
the Mystery Shop, which can take place anytime throughout the
summer months the centre's staff are assessed on their knowledge,
friendliness, the displays, the range of stock they offer and
the attention to detail when handling customer enquiries.
Francis
Cornish, Chairman of Southwest Tourism, congratulated the centre's
staff on their achievement.
 And
Robin Barker, Marketing Director & Deputy Chief Executive
of Southwest Tourism said: "Information is right at the heart
of the visitor experience and when handled well leads to happier
visitors, more return visits and a healthier economy."
"So
congratulations indeed to the team at Burnham-On-Sea, who have
beaten the rest of the country in showing their commitment and
quality of service."
Delighted
Cindy Tee, Visitor Services Manager for Sedgemoor District Council,
said: "It was a wonderful surprise to do so well in the national
mystery shop."
"In
the past we have often done well at a regional level but to have
national recognition for the staff and the hard work they put
in is fantastic."
