Tornado
spotted in skies near Burnham-On-Sea

These
dramatic photos of a tornado in the skies near Burnham-On-Sea
have been snapped this week by a local photographer.
Chris
Abbott was walking at Mark on Sunday evening (June 24th) when
he saw the incredible funnel cloud form towards the Crook Peak
area.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Tuesday: "I was walking in Mark
along The Grove when I spotted the funnel cloud forming above
me."
"It
only lasted a couple of minutes and didn't grow larger than this,
but it certainly was a rare sight."
Chris,
who lives in Mark, added: "It's a shame I couldn't get closer.
I had a 17-40mm zoom on my camera when I saw the cloud, and with
a hasty switch to a 24-105mm zoom, I managed to get a close-up
photo."
The
sighting of the tornado came during a busy week of unseasonally
stormy weather in Burnham,
with heavy rain and gusty winds affecting our area.
The
photos are reproduced here by kind permission of Chris
Abbott.
