Brean
police arrest
motorist and
seize van in vehicle
crackdown

Police
continued their crackdown on illegal vehicles in the Burnham area
on Monday evening (June 18th) when they seized a van and arrested
its driver.
Brean
Beat Manager PC Dominic Bryant and Special Constable Chris Guest
pulled over this white van at 7.20pm outside Brean Leisure Park
after suspecting it had several defects.
"It
was found to have no MOT, no insurance, no tax, several MOT faults
and even the driver had no licence," Chris told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"The
driver was arrested and the van seized and taken off the road."
It
comes in the same week that Burnham police have been checking
for illegal vehicles as part of the force's 'Operation Relentless'
campaign. On Friday (June 15th), police used an Automatic Number
Plate Recognition system along Love Lane to identify stolen vehicles
and perform random vehicle checks.
