Burnham seafront shelter targeted by vandals in ‘senseless’ attack

-

‘Senseless’ vandals have attacked a seafront shelter in Burnham-On-Sea, causing hundreds of pounds of damage.

Several wooden benches have been broken and smashed opposite the Sailing Club at the southern end of The Esplanade.

“Three of the brand new seats which we installed over the summer months in the shelter near the Sailing Club have been senselessly attacked,” Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Our Clean Surroundings Team have been out to have a look at the damage and we estimate that it will cost around £300 to repair.”

The damage – pictured here – comes just a few weeks after a shelter on the town’s seafront, outside Marine Cove Gardens, had to be closed after being attacked by vandals. And we reported earlier this month how vandals had left a trail of damage along Berrow Road – see the links below.
