Wet weather cancels Bank Holiday weekend
events in Burnham-On-Sea
Several
roads in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea
were
left under pools of water on Sunday (May 27th) as several hours
of heavy rain swept through the area, causing events to be cancelled.
The
scene here in John Street was repeated across the town as the
traditional wet Bank Holiday weather led to disruption.
A
series of yacht races in Bridgwater Bay planned by Burnham-On-Sea
Sailing Club on Sunday afternoon were postpond.
Club
Commodore Terry Moule said the conditions had been too poor for
the event to proceed.
And
Hillview Carnival Club's annual fete in Burnham's Manor Gardens
also fell victim to the weather on Sunday morning.
Club
Chairman Tina Marshall told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Given the
awful conditions, we quickly decided that it wouldn't be worth
going ahead. We're hoping for much better weather for our summer
fete in late July."
But
the wet conditions were enjoyed by some... Burnham-On-Sea.com
reader Steve Perks sent in this photo of a young frog sitting
on a lillypad in the pond of his Highbridge garden on Sunday morning!
