Burnham beach users reassured of yacht's safety after it runs aground

Walkers on Burnham-On-Sea beach were reassured by lifeguards that there was no need for concern after a yacht ran aground, as pictured here.

This was the unusual scene near the pier when the 15ft yacht 'Festina' was left high and dry by the falling tide.

The vessel, with one man aboard, ran aground on Saturday (July 21st) and managed to float off on Sunday's high tide.

Coastguards had initially been alerted, but when the man onboard assurred Burnham lifeguards that all was well, no further action was needed. "It seems he just wanted to moor up for the weekend and enjoy the view!" said one onlooker.
