Great
start for Burnham-On-Sea zapcat team in UK championships

Two
Burnham-On-Sea sailing enthusiasts who are taking part in the
national zapcat racing championships proudly stepped onto the
winners' podium at this week's first race of the new season.
Ashley
Chappell and Ryan Jones, pictured, were featured on Burnham-On-Sea.com
in April and this
week took part in their first competitive races in Bournemouth.
The
pair were delighted to come second overall after winning four
races and coming third in another race.
Zapcat
racing is a new sport involving small catamaran boats competing
in high-speed races.
Ashley
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We've got off to a great start
to our first season. After all the training we've done in Burnham
we had hoped to do well, but were delighted to get on the winners'
podium."
Both
Ashley and Ryan live in East Huntspill and are keen jet skiers.
The duo can often be seen training in the rough seas off Burnham,
as pictured at the top of this page. The next leg of the season
will be in Portsmouth on June 23rd and 24th.
Zapcats
are designed to cope with a huge variety of sea conditions, from
calm lakes to large breaking surf. Their unique inflatable catamaran
hulls mean they are able to stay stable when afloat, whether stationary
or at speed.
Ashley
thanked their new sponsor, Rob Davey Electricals, and are searching
for one more sponsor to help fund the cost of fuel during the
season. Ashley can be contacted on 07870 206210 for more information.
