run

A
former
world triathlon champion won the final 5km seafront run of the
summer season on Burnham's seafront on Thursday evening (August
21st).
Spencer
Smith, pictured right, narrowly won the third race of the summer
series from local runner Kevin Crenol of Burnham Harriers.
He
completed the course in 16 minutes and four seconds, one second
ahead of Mr Crenol, who had won the two previous races.
Over
50 runners took part in Thursday's event,
which involved a
three-lap course of the Southern Esplanade.
The
races were launched by the Burnham-On-Sea
Swim and Sports Academy earlier this year - as previewed
here by Burnham-On-Sea.com
- and organiser Martin Rogers said he is
very pleased with how the series has gone.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We've had great support from local clubs and residents,
with over 45 runners taking part in each race. We're now busily
preparing the winter series."
The
winter runs begin on October 2nd and more details will be available
on Burnham-On-Sea.com in coming weeks.
