Day

Over
60 walkers strode out for charity during a fundraising beach walk
at Brean, near Burnham, on Sunday afternoon (September 21st).
Glorious
sunshine provided ideal conditions for the 65 walkers, who took
part in the annual Memory Walk, held to mark World Alzheimer's
Day.
This
year's event was sponsored and promoted by Brean Leisure Park
and began at the park. The participants strolled along the beach
to Brean Cove Café before heading out along Brean Down
to the fort, and then turning round for the return trip - a total
of 8.5km.
Organiser
Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It went really well.
We couldn't have asked for better weather and had a good turnout
of 65 people, which included teenagers and pensioners."
He
added that several thousand pounds was expected to have been raised
from sponsorships, although the final figure won't be known for
several days.
On
their return, the walkers were served with well-deserved free
refreshments at Brean Leisure Park.
Similar
Memory Walks were held across England, Wales and Northern Ireland
to support the work of the Alzheimer's Society. For more details,
