Police
issue fresh information after Highbridge child safety alert
Police
from Bridgwater CID who are investigating a recent attempted abduction
incident in Wedmore confirmed on Tuesday (June 17th) that they
are also probing a separate incident in Highbridge.
The
Wedmore incident in May involved a man who was described as wearing
a blonde wig and driving a red car. There is nothing to suggest
the man was trying to pose as a woman, as some media have reported.
Officers
at Bridgwater CID are also investigating a separate incident,
which took place on Saturday 14th June at approximately 4pm in
Mallard Place, Highbridge, which backs on to Apex Park.
"A
man or woman put their head over the fence of a back garden and
spoke to two young children - that person is described as having
fair hair," police spokeswoman Melissa Cullum told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"Local
enquiries have been made to find out more and police ask that
anyone with any other information should contact them on 0845
456 7000 or on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
The
spokeswoman added that there is nothing to suggest that either
of the incidents are linked. It comes after schools in Burnham-On-Sea
issued a warning to parents on Monday, as reported
here.
