Armed
police unit swoops on Highbridge property
 Armed
police officers swooped on a Highbridge property on Wednesday
evening (March 12th) as they searched for a man who is wanted
on suspicion of being involved with a serious crime.
The
armed police unit and local officers were sent to Alexandra Court
on Highbridge Quay at 6pm.
Eyewitnesses
in the area told Burnham-On-Sea.com a large number of police cars
were in attendance. They also saw several police carrying guns.
Police
spokesman Dan Mountain confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday
morning (March 13th): "An armed reponse unit and local officers
were called to Alexendra Court and an arrest attempt was made,
but this was unsuccessful."
He
added that police investigations are ongoing.
