Wildlife
charity founder to join badger-culling demonstration in Wales
The
founder of East Huntspill's Secret World Wildlife Rescue charity
will be joining a demonstration in Wales this weekend to campaign
against the culling of badgers.
Pauline
Kidner and the charity's supporters will take part in the protest
outside the Welsh Assembly Rooms in Cardiff on Saturday (June
28th).
The
wildlife charity is well-known for its work with badgers and is
the largest badger cub rearing unit in the country.
Pauline
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We continue to fight for the badger
and will make it quite clear to the Welsh Assembly that culling
badgers is the wrong decision with regards to the control of Bovine
TB in cattle."
"We
find it incredible that despite scientific evidence from the government's
own independent scientific group, killing badgers still plays
a part in Wales' policies."
The
Black and White Campaign led by Secret World has now amassed 20,000
signatures against gassing and snaring of badgers.
Pauline
added: "Remember, even last year when the government held
a consultation on badger culling over 97% of the replies were
against it - the largest response ever for a consultation."
"It
is not because we are bunny huggers that we are campaigning. We
know that some badgers can carry Bovine TB and can infect cows
as indeed cows can infect badgers. Culling has not worked in the
past 30 years and will never work. That's a scientific fact."
