Burnham-On-Sea
beach given a spring clean by youth volunteers
A
group of youth volunteers carried out a clean-up of Burnham-On-Sea's
beach this week following recent reports about the poor state
of the sands.
A
dozen members of the Somerset Youth Volunteering Network from
across the county aged between 16 and 25 held the special clean-up
on Thursday (June 5th).
It
comes after Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last
month how the poor state of the beach had been highlighted
by local councillors.
Somerset
Youth Volunteering Network's spokeswoman Hollie Taylor told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We carried away a large amount of debris from the beach
between the pier and lighthouse after a clean-up lasting several
hours. We were happy to help - it was a good opportunity for young
people to get active in their own community and also helped with
team-building."
