Volunteers come foward to clean up Burnham-On-Sea beach

A group of youth volunteers has come forward to say it will clean up Burnham-On-Sea's beach following criticism earlier this week about the state of the sands.

Somerset Youth Volunteering Network is organising a special beach clean on Thursday June 5th when youngsters from across the county aged between 16 and 25 will be able to help in the beach clean-up.

It comes after Burnham-On-Sea.com reported on Monday how the state of the beach had been highlighted by local councillors.

Group spokesman Hollie Taylor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We heard the beach needed a clean and have been planning this event for some time."

"It's a good opportunity for young people to get active in their own community and it helps with team-building and finding poss

She added that volunteers will meet at 11.30am at the pier and that the clean-up will be carried out throughout the afternoon.
