Highbridge foster carer receives community service award

Belinda Swansbury, from Highbridge, is one of several residents across the county to have been presented with awards by the Chairman of Somerset County Council for their work in the community.

The Chairman’s Awards for Service to the Community recognise individuals, partners and groups who have made a significant contribution to their local community.

Belinda, pictured, is a foster carer and was nominated by a family whose child had been placed with her.

Councillor Gloak said: "This is an ideal opportunity to thank those people who give up their time and energy for the benefit of their communities. It is right that we should highlight and celebrate their work so that it does not go unnoticed."

"Belinda has continued to provide support to the family even though the placement has ended."

The Chairman's Awards for Service to the Community took place recently at Glastonbury Town Hall.
