Young
cyclist injured in accident on Berrow's Coast Road
A
young cyclist was taken to hospital following an accident along
a dangerous stretch of road at Berrow, near Burnham, on Sunday
evening (March 23rd).
Emergency
services were called to Coast Road at around 6.30pm after an accident
involving a lorry and a young cyclist opposite Berrow Church,
near the junction with Manor Way.
A
12-year-old was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene and
taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be serious.
Motorists
faced lengthy delays along the stretch of road during the evening,
as pictured here, while police investigated the incident.
The
safety of Berrow's Coast Road has been in the spotlight for several
years due to its lack of pavements and high traffic flows during
holiday periods.
Burnham-On-Sea
MP David Heathcoat-Amory has recently stepped
up his campaign to get safety improvements introduced by the
County Council along the road.
