In photos: Thrills and
spills as UK's top BMX riders come to Burnham
Over
350 of the UK's top BMX riders were in action in Burnham-On-Sea
on Sunday (March 23rd) when the town's cycle track hosted the
UK National Championships.
Big
crowds of spectators lined the track to watch the fast-paced action
at
Apex Wildlife Park, which is home to Burnham
BMX Club.
Club
Secretary Matt Duckering told Burnham-On-Sea.com the two-day event
had been another great success. "The weather's been bitterly
cold but mostly dry and we've had two days of good quality racing
which has brought many visitors into the town."
The
event came just a few days
after the club hosted the smaller South West Regional BMX series
event last weekend. The next round of the National Championships
will be held between 26th-27th April in Cheddar and rounds eight
and nine will be held in Burnham on 26th-27th July.

But
it's not all 'plain sailing' for the riders as they took this
bend...

...
a little too quick and piled into each other...

...
leading to several riders tumbling onto the tarmac...

...
but the only injuries were a few minor bumps and bruised egos!
