Delighted Exeter duo David Kynaston and co-driver Andy Russell won the Brean Rally for the second year running on Sunday afternoon (January 27th).

Two days of exciting racing at Brean Leisure Park saw the pair, pictured, cling onto a slender 1-second lead from Saturday's first six stages and they eventually won by over 90 seconds.

"David and Andy were in blistering form throughout the weekend and hardly made a mistake - it was great to watch," said a spokesman for Weston Motor Club, which organised the event.

The Exeter duo finished at the top of the leader board in their Audi A3 Quattro after twelve stages of exciting action.

In second spot were 2006 winners Steve Furzeland and Yvonne Furzeland in their Subaru Impreza WRC. In third position were Dave Parnell and Pete Bold in a Ford Escort Mk1 - full results can be accessed here.

The popular rally - now in its 12th year - attracted large numbers of spectators, thanks in part to bright and dry weather throughout the weekend.

Weston's Jamie Harris and Richard Bliss could only look on in disappointment after their Peugeot 205 GTi suffered mechnical problems, forcing them to withdraw.

Huw Reed and Steve Boome took to the air in their Escort Mk2 while powering out of a corner during Sunday's second day of Brean Rally action.

Burnham-On-Sea's Nikki Peskett and Kate Drake did well during the two days in their Peugeot 205 GTi.

Winners David Kynaston and co-driver Andy Russell waited for the clock to signal the start of one of Sunday afternoon's stages.

Burnham-On-Sea's George Mullins and Des Wood narrowly held off Craig Jose and Chris Howells behind them.

Accelerating out of a tight corner, Stuart Fossey and Theresa Fossey shot into the air in their Escort Mk2.

Bumper-to-bumper action during Sunday's rally saw Craig Jose and Chris Howells in car 50 fighting off rivals Ben Gunn and Aubrey Bage in car 36.

Kerry Michael and Mark Phillips took to the air in their Escort Mk1 during day two of the Brean Rally.

Rally driver legend Russell Brookes performed a lap of honour during an interval at Sunday's second day of racing at the 2008 Brean Rally.
