Burnham-On-Sea
carnival gives £5,000 boost to local groups
A
huge windfall of more than £5,000 was handed out to grateful
groups in Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday evening (March 12th), courtesy
of the town's carnival committee.
Chairman
Mike Young and President Malcolm Borland handed out £5,050
of cheques at the Ritz Social Club to those groups who had helped
last November's event by giving volunteers.
Mike
thanked the organisations for their support, adding: "We
are very grateful for the help of all these local groups whom
we rely on for marshalling and collecting on the night."
The
groups benefiting included Burnham Lions, Round Table, BEES, Secret
World, Sedgemoor Explorers, YHA, British Heart Foundation, BARB,
Rotary Club, St John Ambulance, Highbridge In Bloom, Burnham Scouts,
Air Training Corp, Breaks 4 Kids, and the Young Farmers.
