It's
Carnival Day! Big crowds expected to flock to Burnham-On-Sea

A
crowd of up to 35,000 people is expected to line the streets of
Burnham-On-Sea this evening (Monday November 10th) for the town's
annual carnival.
With
weather forecasters predicting light showers and temperatures
of six degrees Centigrade, spectators are being advised to wear
warm, waterproof clothing.
A
total of 94 colourful entries will wend their through the town,
starting at 7.30pm near the town's Tesco supermarket, before moving
along Love Lane, Manor Road, and the High Street and finishing
in Marine Drive.
This
year's Carnival Queen Tara Moxey, 17, from Highbridge, and her
princesses, Burnham girls Katie Lawson, 10, and Cali Rae Brown,
7, pictured, will lead the procession, closely followed by a special
float carrying Burnham's Olympic BMX rider Liam Phillips and Paralympic
swimmer Anthony Stephens.
Local
emergency services, including West Country Ambulance, St John
Ambulance, BARB and HM Coastguard, will also be near the front
of the procession.
Among
the local entries will be Hillview JCC with its Jesters Parade
carnival float, (pictured at the top of this page), which was
first featured here
last month and has already scooped third places in its class at
Bridgwater last Friday and North Petherton on Saturday.
Full
details of the route, plus car parking, and road closures appear
here
on Burnham-On-Sea.com's complete carnival guide.
Malcolm
Borland, President of the Carnival Association, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"Everything is going to plan so far and we're delighted that
there is a good long list of entries again this year."
"Everyone's
looking forward to this year's event and the excitement is building."
The
build-up to the 61st annual Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival
began on Sunday (November 9th) when Burnham's seafront fireworks
display took place. Click here
