Alcohol
seized by police during Burnham-On-Sea Carnival
Police
seized more than 100 cans and bottles of alcohol during Monday's
Burnham-On-Sea Carnival when they took action to prevent anti-social
behaviour in the town centre.
Officers
patrolled the streets during and after the parade and there was
a high-profile presence along the High Street after the procession
ended.
Police
broke up a large disturbance outside Chaplains bar on the seafront
and mounted police on horses were used to break up several large
groups of youngsters on the High Street.
However,
police spokesman Steve Game told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event
had been a low-crime one.
"It
went reasonably well," he said. "There were a few isolated
incidents and some on-street drinking where we took positive action."
"Around
100 items of alcohol were seized during the evening."
Burnham-On-Sea.com
also understand there were three arrests during the course of
the event.
