Burnham fire crews respond to fire alert at furniture company

Burnham-On-Sea fire engineBurnham-On-Sea fire crews were sent to a Highbridge furniture company on Friday morning (May 2nd) after reports of smoke being spotted.

Two fire engines from Burnham rushed to Caxton Furniture in Commerce Way at 11.15am.

Fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "On arrival, the fire crews found that a fault in a cutting machine had caused smoke alarms to activate."

"The crews checked that the building was safe and were able to quickly stand down."

It comes just days after a fire in a storage silo last Thursday at sister company Woodberry Haines.
