The benefits to Burnham-On-Sea of the Tour of Britain cycle race coming to the town this autumn will be discussed at Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade’s latest meeting this evening (Thursday July 17th).

Graham Bagley, Somerset County Council’s Tour Of Britain cycle race project manager, will be the guest speaker at the meeting, which is open to all businesses.

The south west stage of the cycle race will finish in the town on Tuesday 9th September and thousands of people are expected to flock into the town to watch the event, potentially providing a financial boost to local firms.

Thursday’s meeting will be held at 6pm in the upstairs function room of the Somerset & Dorset pub on the High Street and will also include a presentation from Sue Quatermass about the upcoming Highbridge And Burnham Arts (HABA) group’s Visual Arts Festival.

Graham Cook will also talk about the 2008 FolkFest and Burnham’s Town Clerk, Eileen Shaw, will give an update on fundraising for the town’s annual autumn fireworks display.

Chairman Alex Turco told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “In the coming months there are many events taking place in the town. This is an opportunity for businesses to learn more about the opportunities that will arise from them. We look forward to welcoming as many businesses as possible.”
