Improving the town centre of Burnham-On-Sea will be the theme for a special meeting of the town’s Chamber of Trade and Commerce on Tuesday evening (October 21st).

The meeting, to be held at 6pm in the Princess Hall in Princess Street, will be open to all businesses in the town, as well as the general public for the main business of the meeting.

Speakers will include Doug Bamsey, Corporate Director for regeneration at Sedgemoor District Council, who will provide an update on plans to regenerate the town.

Adrian Gardner, the group manager for Clean Surroundings at Sedgemoor District Council, will talk about street cleaning and litter, while Ioan Rees, Manager of Somerset County Council’s highways department, will discuss transport and parking in Burnham.

Sgt. Ian Kennett will discuss current crime and disorder issues and how they are being tackled. All speakers will also take questions about the issues facing town centre businesses.

Melanie Chiswell, Corporate Affairs Director for Tesco, will also make a short presentation regarding the supermarket giant’s expansion plans for its Love Lane store in Burnham.

Chairman Alex Turco told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The businesses of Burnham rely on a vibrant, clean and safe town centre.”

“This is a big opportunity for people to listen to what is being done to achieve this and to have their say about how things can be improved. We look forward to welcoming as many businesses as possible.”
