Work
is underway to give Burnham-On-Sea's Ritz Cinema a new look

Work
to give Burnham-On-Sea's Ritz Cinema a fresh new look with £6,000
of grant funding from the UK Film Council is set to be completed
during the next few weeks.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
first reported last month
how the 72 year-old building had been awarded a share of a £475,000
windfall being given to independent cinemas across the UK.
The
cinema, pictured above, has been clad in scaffolding for several
days as work to decorate the building's exterior and introduce
new signage gets underway.
Pat
Scott, owner of the cinema, said he is "delighted" by
the work and added that the work is on schedule to be completed
soon.
Peter
Buckingham, the UK Film Council's head of distribution and exhibition,
said: "Independent cinemas often represent the hub of a local
community, but many can't afford to upgrade their facilities."
The
cinema has also been given further council funding towards the
overall £23,000 cost of the revamp.
