'Wheel
of death' star puts on circus
show for family
near Burnham
A
boy from Bristol who ran off to join the circus is looking forward
to showing off his 'wheel of death' skills for the first time
in front of his family at a garden centre near Burnham-On-Sea
this month.
Scott
Glass will be entertaining his family when he performs the 'wheel
of death' act at Paulo's Circus Americano at Sanders Garden World
in Brent Knoll.
The
32-year-old, who performs in a double act known as the Vegas Boys,
said: "All the family want to come and see me perform. My
mum is coming and it will be first time she has seen me in the
wheel of death act. Its one of the most dangerous
acts in the circus world. My fellow Vegas Boy Honza
Ballack and I are nine metres up in the air on top of a wheel,
which is going around."
Scott,
who was brought up in Winterbourne, joined the circus aged 15
and during the following 17 years has performed different circus
acts while travelling around Ireland and the UK.
"When
I was 15 I had dyslexia and I got pushed to the sidelines. The
circus was in town, I hung around talking to the boys working
there and decided to join. My mum didn't want me to go and thought
I would be back after a week but I stayed. I started off at the
bottom, mucking out the horses in the stables, selling tickets,
putting up posters and picking up the rubbish."
"I
later became part of a revolving ladder comic act and I have spent
time as a human slinky toy in a big suit. Honza and I have been
performing the 'wheel of death' act for about a year now."
Adult
grand stand tickets cost £16 and children/OAP tickets cost
£14. Ring side seats cost £14 for adults and £12
for children/OAPs and side view tickets £10 for adults and
£8 for children and OAPs. Tickets
are on sale by calling 01278 761 111.
