TV
star David Bellamy visited a Burnham-On-Sea holiday park on Friday
afternoon (June 20th).
The
botanist, author and broadcaster made a special appearance at
Burnham Holiday Village for the park's 'Big Green Weekend'.
Haven
Holidays spokeswoman Deborah McCabe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The
festival was held to celebrate all things green at the park and
David joined in with many activities to highlight the environmental
projects we're running."
"The
activities during the weekend include bat detecting, bird watching,
kite flying, conservation workshops, rock pool rambles and green
fancy dress competitions."
David
took several groups around the park's fishing ponds, where he
talked about some of the wildlife and vegetation on display.
"We
have been increasingly more focussed on environmental awareness
over the past decade," said Daniel Coward, Haven Holiday's
Environmental Consultant. "All 35 of our parks hold David
Bellamy Conservation awards with an impressive 33 parks achieving
Gold standard. This year almost half of the parks will also be
participating in the Green Tourism Business Scheme, which has
even more stringent criteria to reach."
David
last visited the Burnham-On-Sea area in 2006
when he joined protestors in campaigning against a proposed wind
farm at Brent Knoll.

David
explained how reeds besides the fishing lakes are a haven for
