'Famous'
goose that became Mark village's mascot is dead
A
goose which became such a familiar sight in the village of Mark,
near Burnham-On-Sea, that it was named the village's mascot, has
been killed.
The
seven-year-old bird, called Errol, was often seen on the green
in the centre of the village and its 'fame' increased when it
was featured on ITV West after being caught up in the recent oil
spill.
The
goose was taken away for treatment by wildlife rescuers from East
Huntspill-based Secret World and was later released, but it has
since been killed by a fox.
"Many
people in the village are very sad that he's gone," said
Jendy Weekes, a Mark resident and parish councillor.
"Errol
was always a familiar sight on the corner of Jubilee Green, opposite
the White Horse, and will be missed by many residents."
