Fire crews called to suspected arson attack on Highbridge building

Burnham-On-Sea
fire crews were called to deal with a suspected arson attack on
a disused building in Highbridge on Thursday evening (July 31st).
Two
Burnham fire crews rushed to tackle the blaze in a property besides
the railway line at 7.25pm, as pictured here.
Firefighters
used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
They
also removed several gas cylinders from inside the property which
had been scorched by the fire.
It
came after the alarm had been raised earlier in the evening by
a nearby resident dialling 999 after seeing smoke rising from
the building, close to the recreation ground.
Talking
to Burnham-On-Sea.com at the scene of Thursday night's incident,
fire crews issued a strongly-worded warning about the dangers
of setting gas cyclinders alight.
"It
is important that local youngsters know how dangerous it is to
set fire to gas cyclinders like these," said the fire spokesman.
"They can easily explode when heated and do seriously injure
and can kill."
