Fire crew from Burnham-On-Sea helps tackle gorseland blaze

A fire crew from Burnham-On-Sea joined others from across Somerset in tackling a big gorse fire near Cheddar on Saturday afternoon (March 1st).

Fire appliances from Burnham, Wells, Cheddar, Blagdon, Paulton and Shepton Mallet attended the blaze at Priddy Ponds in Priddy which involved gorse, bushes, trees and grassland.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The fire area was 400m x 200m and was extinguished using several hose reel jets and fire beaters. The cause is thought to be deliberate."
