Burnham-On-Sea fire crew
tackle blaze at Highbridge company

Burnham-On-Sea
firefighters were still at the scene of a fire in a Highbridge
storage silo on Thursday morning (April 24th).
Fire
crews were called on Wednesday afternoon to Woodberry Bros and
Haines after smoke was seen emerging from the tall structure,
leading to the evacuation of some staff.
Fire
vehicles from Burnham, Bridgwater, Yeovil, Weston and Street were
sent to the scene at 2.47pm.
Our
photos show the crews tackling the fire in the sawdust storage
silo, which was approximately 60 feet high.
"The
cause of this fire was a dust explosion within the silo,"
explained a fire spokesman.
"There
was 60 per cent fire, smoke, heat and water damage to sawdust
in the silo plus 40 per cent fire and heat damage to the silo
itself."
Two
fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea were still at the scene on Thursday
morning (April 23rd) as the fire continued.
