Beach fishing competition hailed as ‘worst ever’ after fish stay away!

-

Scores of angling enthusiasts lined the beach at Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (March 16th)… but the fish decided to stay away!

Only seven were caught by the 82 competitors, making it the worst-ever event held by fishing club Weston Outcasts in Burnham.

“It has been a very disappointing day of catches,” admitted the club’s Steve Moors.

“We would usually expect to catch at least 24 fish on such a well-attended day.”

The £250 top prize was won by Kevin Hughes for a 0.669kg flounder, while second place was won by Mr Moors (£100) with a 0.657kg flounder and third was John Lintern with a codling of 0.615kg. The three are pictured above.
