Burnham-On-Sea's
three-day FolkFest music festival starts today
More
than 100 hours of live music from 60 different groups is set to
be played in Burnham-On-Sea this weekend, as the town's third
annual FolkFest gets underway on Friday evening (August 29th.
The
three-day event will see pubs, clubs and other venues across the
town laying on a quality line-up of live entertainment.
Dragonsfly
will perform the opening event of the festival at the Ritz Social
Club this evening from 8.30 pm.
This
will be the only pay event of the weekend, with tickets costing
£6 each and available from GC Music in College Street. All
other events will be provided free of charge.
On
Saturday August 30th FolkFest performances will be held in seven
pub and club venues, with free music in each from noon until 11.00pm.
In an eighth pub there will be open mic sessions. There will also
be clog and morris dancing, a craft fair in the centre of the
town, childrens' entertainment, workshops and other activities.
On
the Sunday August 31st, the popular 'Folk in the Park' event will
be held in Burnham's Manor Gardens, with six hours of free music
and performance including the fabulous Sheelanagig, Ember, Bag
of Rats, Phil King and the Tiger Feet Appalachian Dancers.

"Moving
the Traders Fair to the centre of the Town on the Saturday was
a major improvement in 2007 and we have extended the hours of
the fair, provided more street entertainment, and hopefully will
create an even bigger 'buzz' in the town centre," spokesman
Graham Cook told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
