Two
further Burnham-On-Sea food firms awarded five stars for hygiene
Two
food
businesses in the Burnham area have been awarded a maximum five
stars for their food hygiene practices in the latest survey by
Sedgemoor District Councils Food Safety Team.
Under
the 'Somerset Food Scores' scheme, every food premises
in the district gets inspected on a regular basis - and a new
list has just been published by the council showing the performance
of local food providers.
Superchips
in the town's High Street and Brunel Care on the town's seafront
have been given a maximum score of five stars in the latest survey,
while four food providers gained four stars, as shown below.
'Somerset
Food Scores' is not a competition, nor an award scheme, but a
system that allows customers to see how their school, hospital,
favourite sandwich bar or restaurant complies with food hygiene
regulations.
Environmental
Health Officers, pictured above, are required to give a rating
at every food inspection on how well the food premises complies
with legal requirements, cleanliness and structure. The ratings
then prescribe how many stars are achieved - from zero to five
- with the top rating showing it fully complies with hygiene regulations.
