Injured teenager pulled out of pond after accident near Highbridge

Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident involving a tractor which left a teenage girl with critical injuries.

At around 7.30pm on Thursday (April 10th) the 13-year-old girl was driving a tractor which was rolling in a field near Arnos Lane, Watchfield, Highbridge.

For unknown reasons, the tractor slipped into a water-filled pond and left the girl trapped inside.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the girl was taken to Weston General Hospital and then Bristol Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

She currently remains at the children's hospital in a critical condition.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive are currently investigating the incident, but are appealing for anyone with information or who might have witnessed the incident.
