First
across the finishing line was Royal Navy runner Mark Goodridge,
38, from Sherbourne who completed the race in a fast time of 1:12:57
that was just a few seconds stray of the course record.
He's
pictured with second placed Allan Jones, who completed the race
in 1:13:21, third-placed John Broom (1:13:58) and fourth-placed
Kevin Crenol (1:14:09), who was the first local man home.
Winner
Mark Goodridge told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's the first time
I've run this half marathon. It's a great course and with today's
good conditions, I was pleased to finish very close to the course
record."
Club
Secretary Brian Beale, who oversaw Sunday's event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"It's been another great event - we're pleased with the number
of runners we had and the support shown from everyone."
The
starting gun was fired at 11am at Burnham's BASC Ground, signalling
the start of the 13-mile run.
The
runners left the
BASC ground and moved
along Love Lane and Queens Drive, before turning left along the
A38 towards Brent Knoll and then on to East Brent, Lympsham, Wick
Road and Red Road, before returning to Burnham via Berrow Road.
A
separate fun run was held and was won by Kayley Kennedy, with
Luke Briar in second place and Danny Kennedy in third.
