Two
arrested in Burnham-On-Sea on 'unusually quiet' Halloween night
Two
people were arrested by police in the Burnham-On-Sea area on what
police described as an "unusually quiet" Halloween in
the town.
In
the Burnham and Highbridge area, police also made three alcohol
seizures and one fireworks seizure. They also received five calls
relating to anti-social behaviour.
Burnham-On-Sea
fire brigade also attended a rubbish bin fire on the town's High
Street at around 9pm after it was deliberately set alight.
Freezing
cold temperatures are pro-active policing are thought to be two
of the reasons for the reduction in trouble.
Sergeant
Mike Tripp told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "As part of Operation
Relentless, we carried out high visibility patrols across the
town and the surrounding areas, with additional support from our
Special Constables."
"Local
retailers also played their part, as they all worked closely with
their local Beat Managers and were refusing to sell eggs and flour
to children in the run up to Halloween."
"We
also provided more vulnerable residents with 'no trick or treat'
posters to display in their window and liaised with local schools
to ask children to respect these signs."
