Workmen
remove roof of fire-hit Highbridge Hotel

These
were the scenes at the former Highbridge Hotel on Thursday (June
26th) as workers dismantled the roof of the fire-hit property.
The
charred roof beams at the top of the building were removed to
allow fire safety inspectors to begin assessing the property over
the next few days.
The
building was left in an unstable condition after a huge
fire
devastated
it in April. It has been sealed off with safety barriers ever
since.
Burnham-On-Sea.com's
photos show the work to remove the roof underway on Thursday.
Last
week, we were first to report
that the owner of the fire-ravaged Highbridge Hotel plans to hold
a meeting during the next fortnight to unveil his plans for the
site. Derek Mead, who owns the site, told us he hopes to unveil
his plans for the site at a special meeting.
