Trophies
galore for Burnham-On-Sea's Hillview Carnival Club

A
huge haul of trophies and cups was handed out to members of Burnham-On-Sea's
Hillview Carnival Club on Saturday night (March 1st) when the
group celebrated one of its most successful ever years.
Over
130 people gathered at the Ritz Social Club in Burnham for the
annual presentation evening, which was also attended by five other
juvenile carnival clubs from across Somerset.
Hillview's
float, called 'Daddy Cool (Ice Cool)', won first place at the
Burnham and Highbridge Carnival for 'best local entry' and also
scooped first prize in the 'Juvenile Feature/Tableaux' class.
It went on to win a half share of the Juvenile County Cup with
Toppers Carnival Club.
Club
spokesman Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The evening
was a great way to round off a very successful year."
"We
were delighted to be presented with a further five trophies that
the other juvenile carnival clubs had voted on. Also, dozens of
awards were handed to the children and those members who helped
create our float."
He
added that work has already started on planning the club's 2008
carnival float. The group recently raised more than £4,000
to buy a new tractor and modifications are being made to get it
ready for November's big night.
